The 13th annual Safar Symposium is held jointly by the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research, the Peter M. Winter Institute for Simulation Education and Research (WISER) in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (Departments of Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation). Lisa won the best overall poster for her presentation on sex-, stress-, and sympathetic postganglionic neuron-dependent changes in the expression of pro- and anti-inflammatory molecules in dural immune cells. Lindsay came in second in the Department of Anesthesiology for her poster on the genetic identification of somatosensory neurons that express the kappa opioid receptor. Lisa and Lindsay are post- comprehensive trainees working with Michael Gold and Sarah Ross, respectively.
